The Theory of Everything

Friday, December 19, 2014

Tonight I had the honor of watching The Theory of Everything at the cinema with a dear friend of mine. If you haven't yet seen the endearing and heartbreaking film it is a remarkable recreation of Stephen Hawking's incredible life and the hardships he had to struggle and endure when being told at age 21 that he had a motor neuron disease---ALS and no less than two years to live. A disease that leaves your body in a shock of paralysis and hopelessness. . .as it takes your will away to walk, talk, eat, and even breathe. Stephen and Jane Hawking battle the impossible as they fight to keep their love and selves alive while they try to search for the answer to one of the most difficult questions. . .the theory of everything.

My summary of this film nowhere near does it any justice! I personally had very little knowledge about the amazing Professor Stephen Hawking when I walked in, but this movie moved me to tears and it was so endearing to watch and learn about this incredible man. If you're planning to go to the cinema anytime soon please keep this movie in mind I promise you will not be disappointed watching this heart warming and sometimes wrenching love story.

Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones deserve to win an Oscar. . .or five. Just sayin'.

"While there is life, there is hope"

Oxford | Shoe Unboxing

When I saw these beauties in the shop I knew there was no way I was walking without them. Even though I had originally made a pact with myself that I wasn't under any circumstance going to buy anything. . .oops. These little booties come in a rich wine color and adorned with a gold brass buckle which I personally find so fitting for the holidays. Don't you think?

I typically don't go for such a short chunky heel because 5'10 obviously isn't tall enough as I always found them a tad bit silly looking. But, in this case I find them completely adorable and I find that it adds so much more character to them. Oh yeah, and more importantly you don't have to worry about wobbling around because these bad boys are super easy to walk in. No more "Ooops I dropped my hot chocolate on your designer gown" incidents. I on the other hand am still waiting for that incident to happen to me as I've never been invited to a Christmas party before. *glares out into the crowd* Any offers?

Every time I wear these boots I feel like I belong at Oxford University. Walking on the cobblestones of England and sipping butterbeer. Rushing to class and running clumsily in the corridors searching for the Sorcerers Stone. Studying in the library researching Basilisks. Why I haven't received my acceptance letter is beyond me. . .

If you got my Harry Potter references. . .I love you

Dear Santa

Dearest Santa,

I've been a extra good girl this year so if you wouldn't very much mind getting all the gifts listed above by Christmas morning it would be very much appreciated.

                                                                                                                                 Love,
                                                                                                                                Sylvia xxx

p.s. I might eat a cookie of yours---one or two tops I swear! Sharing is caring~ *innocently flutters eyelashes*

Hey, a girl can wish right?  It has always been a Christmas tradition of my sisters and I to write up these overdone wishlists to jolly old Saint Nick himself. The three of us sprawl on the rug in our cozy pajamas right under the lit up Christmas tree and write our pretty little hearts out. I have the joy of seeing their little faces light up as currently they are jumping jellybeans waiting for Christmas morning to arrive. Now don't get me wrong Christmas isn't all about the gifts. I honestly can't explain the feels (yes, I just said feels) that the holiday season gives me. It's simply so magical~

The decorations, all the different sweet treats and chocolates, the lights. Even the air smells different! Honestly, I know this is so cheesy and so over said, but my ultimate favorite thing to do is giving others gifts. I seriously make it into this mission to find the perfect gift for everyone. . .and it has to be absolutely PERFECT. I'm such a huge planner and I'm starting to get all my lists ready and I'm even getting excited telling you about it!

I hope this list was able to help anyone who was stumped on what to get their loved ones. I do realize my list is quite. . .pink and girly. But, I think it's got a little something for everyone. Boys I heard this year you needed some extra help on what to get your bae so you can thank me ahead of time.

Here's my Top 5 picks:
(*wink wink* To my mom if she is reading this xxx)

Fujifilm Instax Mini Camera
What girl doesn't want this darling cute camera?! This pretty little number will take the most keep sake photos and is the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys snapping their camera away. They come in an assortment of pastel colors which for some reason or another makes this camera even more desirable than it already was. I assure you that they will love you forever including me.

Lush Bath Bombs
Pamper your girl or boy with these luxurious and lush bath bombs. These are pretty to look at and look good enough to eat, (Okay, maybe I'm the only one who thinks the second part. . .) but they do make for one amazing bath.

Chocolates
Okay, you can never go wrong with chocolates. Especially the Ferrero Rocher chocolates. This sweet hazelnut chocolate is absolutely divine and to die for. I would die for these chocolates and that's saying a lot about me isn't it. . .

Cute Sleepwear
Some people might think its disappointing to rip away the wrapping paper to find another pair of granny pajamas. . .but nobody is going to complain if they are the cutest jammies around. Every time they are lounging around they'll be thinking of you.

Perfume
When in doubt buy perfume! There are some great deals around the holidays for perfume sets which also comes in the cutest limited addition packaging. I think this is a win-win situation for everyone. They get perfume and every time you see them they smell good. My personal pick was the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. . .just saying.

I'm wishing all of you a very merry Christmas~

Ho ho ho. . .

Did I mention I was one of Santa's helpers?

Out For A Stroll

Saturday, November 22, 2014

I took that photo. . .holy smokes~
Nature is beautiful

Peek-A-Boo?
I see you
Ladybugs are good luck, you know?
A mean old spider tried to eat him, but we saved the little guy!
-gasp-  Does that mean we get extra good luck?!

The other day my siblings and I decided to take a stroll around the lake as we were having very lovely weather. I wish I could say the same for today, but the weather has seemed to take a gloomy turn for the worst. I would never survive if I had to live up north---I would just curl up in a little ball and cuddle with my kitty until the sun came back out~ Bless all you northern souls how do you do it?! All of you need a kitten and free complimentary hot chocolate on your doorsteps~ Why is that not a thing?!

*clears my throat awkwardly* I seemed to have completely gotten off topic. While we were walking we couldn't help, but snap a few photos while we were there. Hence these photos were born! I know this post is a lot more casual than to what I usually post, but I hope you enjoyed it. Hope each and everyone of you are having a lovely weekend~

Constipated kissy faces~
Sending you all much love towards your way~

Hello, my darling, darling readers~ My little schnitzels~ My cutie patooties~ My---okay, okay I might or might not be trying to cover the fact that I haven't posted in a while. You'll forgive me though, right? Right?!
I swear I'll get the hang of this blogging thing. . .eventually. For the record though I've missed all of you! Pinky swears~

Today's little post I bring you my very first face of the day. It's nothing too over the top hence the title of the post---simplicity. This is actually the makeup look I'll rock most days as I feel its fresh and has the essence of the daintiness I like to capture. Lately, though I've been steering clear of eyeshadow. Don't get me wrong I love sparkly eyeshadow as much as the next girl! But, recently I feel it doesn't take a lot for my eyes to pop plus lets be honest here some mornings it can be a pain in the butt!Sometimes a girl just needs a little mascara and walah~  I'll tell you one thing I've been obsessing over though. . .eyebrows! I can't believe I've ignored those bad boys for so long~ I swear I feel like an artist when I'm drawing the shape of my eyebrows. I swear I'm the next Michael Angelo.  Bold eyebrows are a girl's best friend~
Don't hate em' till you've tried them!

Halloween Treats

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Its getting near one of my favorite times of the year again and I'm pretty sure you all can guess what I'm talking about. Halloween! Mwahaha~

Sorry I'm not sorry the evil laughter was kind of necessary.

Whenever the seasons or holidays are changing I can't help but want to go all out and find even the smallest things to get in the spirit and these easy to make Frankenstein pudding cups were just the thing I needed to find my inner ghoul. These little Frankenstein babies even passed the taste test. The pudding mustache and innocent smile is evidence!

My parents were kind of against me turning into a vampire this year, but what can a girl do -shrugs- I suppose being immortal and part of the undead rubs people the wrong way, but eating Frankenstein brains is going to have to do~

Ingredients:

-Instant Pudding (Vanilla)
-Oreos
-Milk
-Green Food Coloring
-Small Plastic Cups
-A Black Marker (for decorating!)

Directions

Prep: Before starting draw your Frankenstein faces on your plastic cups. Be creative!

1. In a mixing bowl put your instant pudding mix and milk as directed on the box. (Note: The instant pudding I bought said 3 cups of milk, but I opted to put 2 1/2 as I found 3 cups too much and didn't make my pudding as 'thick' as I wanted)

2. Whisk until you have your creamy vanilla pudding

3. Add your green food coloring until you get the color you desire. Add a few drops at a time though because a little goes a long way

4. Put your Oreos in a ziplock bag and start crushing them leaving a few pieces bigger than others

5. Scoop your pudding into the plastic cups and sprinkles your oreos on top

6. Eat the brains!  Enjoy~

Photo Diary #1: where have I been?

Warning: Heavy cat&selfie content

Unfortunately, I've been M.I.A. in the blogging world which breaks my ol' little heart to say. I have such high intentions and regard for this little space on the internet and I hate when I begin to neglect it. You guys can not begin to fathom how much I love creating and making ideas come to life for all you to see. Before school started I sincerely had the intentions to post every other day, but that obviously didn't last too long *sobs* I am quite the pesky perfectionist and tend to have the highest of standards, but yesterday quite recently I've been trying to cut myself a little slack.

If I post twice a week or even if it's just once to begin somewhat of a consistent schedule with all of you I think I would be genuinely happy with my progress. I honestly give anyone a standing ovation and extra brownie points to the bloggers that balance full time school/work and still manages to blog. It isn't as easy as it seems.

*loudly applauds and throws brownies at fellow bloggers*

I still have a few ideas up my sleeve ranging from OOTD's to recipes to God knows what else my brain will come up with and I can't wait to share them with all of you. October is coming up and that will definitely stir the pot of inspiration. Am I the only one who's excited?! Halloween is bliss~ If you have any post ideas you'd like to read please comment below I would love to read them! I truly thank anyone who's stuck along with me as a follower or anyone who is simply reading this. It truly means the world to me~

I hope you enjoyed the irrelevant selfies and the adventures I have with my cat~ Heh heh I just could not help myself

Much love,

Sylvia xxx

Craving Sweater Weather

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

All images above were found on Pinterest~

I will be honest with all of you and say I absolutely hate cold weather. I completely detest it and I too often take for granted the all year round sunshine in good ol' Florida. Oh, but how I adore knit sweaters and cozy jumpers~

Call me a hopeless romantic, but I can't help but romanticize curling near a crackling fire place and sipping on a mug of hot chocolate with fluffy marshmallows~ I don't even like marshmallows for God's sake, but it's just not the same without the cute little marshmallows (Please tell me I'm not the only one!). Something about fall fashion makes me delirious with joy~

Before I stray any further from topic above are just a few of my favorite fall/winter looks! Watching my blogger feed with all of you strutting your fall fashion has made me grow quite envious! Heh heh~

BLONDIE

Excuse the rubbish quality photos as this was a last minute idea. To be completely honest with you I was extremely hesitant to upload this post because I only like presenting my work in the best possible light. It irks me (and that's stating it lightly) when I can't present something of mine to my 'perfectionist' standards. A too late realization had me thinking how am I ever going to be able to look back and see how much I've improved one day if I always reject my work. So perfect or not here we gooooooo. . .

This little dress is definitely one of my staples in my wardrobe. It will always be my go to outfit when I can't be bothered with picking out a full fledged look and laziness is a good excuse as any other to wear a dress. I know there are some girls who are apprehensive on wearing dresses especially if there is no special occasions involved, but if you're currently under that mind set my friend I'll be the first one to tell you. . .you are wrong! I swear wearing dresses are a lot more easier than wearing a pair of your favorite old fashioned blue jeans! Dresses can easily become a staple to anyone's wardrobe as it you can easily bring a variety of looks to the table without you even trying. Be it a bold vibey look or something innocent and feminine.

Now maybe high low dresses have went out of fashion, but I'm still in love with this look It is absolutely perfection when we're in this awkward season between summer and fall. Particularly with this dress I love how part of the skirt is sheer I think it adds a special something. You can never go wrong with a high waisted anything~

On another plus side walking around with a flowy trail behind you always makes you feel magical or maybe it was just the creepy abandoned house. . .

Strawberries&Cream | The Body Shop Review

Friday, September 5, 2014

Please excuse me while I tell the whole world how perfect The Body Shop is. Unfortunately, the nearest location is almost two hours away from where I live (but, not for long though as I'm moving quite soon ;) More on that later though!) which is quite a bummer as I am in love with everything they have to sell there. Although my family and I make an effort to make a trip to the Florida Mall as they have the nicest shops in the area including the beloved and well known Body Shop~

Moving on to my purchases I bought two mini body butters (two for $10 which is quite a bargain if you ask me) which are absolutely heaven by the way. They are very creamy and extremely moisturizing. Your skin simply drinks up this formula leaving your skin feeling silky smooth without the greasy consistency that many body butters seem to have. I swear after using this my skin is as soft as a baby's bum~ I honestly hate that phrase so much. . .who made it up and why were they touching a baby's bottom?!

The two fragrances I chose to get were strawberry&moringa. I could smell these all day and never get bored. What I love about Body Shop's products is that they smell very 'natural' and not overbearingly sweet. Moringa is a very fresh floral scent and is perfect for wearing on those hot summer nights. Now the strawberry body butter smells absolute like bliss~ If you want to smell like a walking strawberry put this on your body.  If you haven't noticed I'm not too great at explaining scents quite yet as I've been sitting here for the past ten minutes smelling both of them and I'm still at a loss of words. What I can tell you though, without a doubt these two body butters are divine~

Skin Care Routine

Sunday, August 31, 2014

These past few weeks my skin has been an absolute nightmare. By nightmare I mean all hell has broke loose upon my precious skin. These pesky face demons have seemed to think they have found their new home (Oh, how they've mistaken!). Some people might think I'm over exaggerating for dramatic effect and I will tell you now. . .I wish I was. Maybe you've noticed that my outfit posts have went down hill. . .I would not dare photograph my face in such a state unless I want my self esteem to be sent to the grave to never rise again (Don't you worry though I'm working on getting those up again!). The first week my skin began acting up I was too embarrassed to even leave my own house. I absolutely refused to and this is definitely not behavior I condone, but at the time I was so ashamed of the condition my skin was in that all I wanted to do was curl under a rock and cry. Yes, I do realize how shallow that sounds, but I'd rather be honest with all of you instead of lie through my teeth and say I proudly bared my flaws for the whole world to see. Pass the paper bag, please? ( I kid, I kid!)

Thank God these times are over and my clear skin is beginning to slowly resurface (Hurry up, please!). Acne is something I've struggled with since high school so if you're in the same boat I tip my hat to you and say with great empathy I feel your pain.

I am not just the bearer of bad news, my lovelies. I come with good news as well. Blemished skin is not something you have to live with~

I'm going to share with all of you my daily skin routine and a few tips that I have come along the past few years.

I truly do stick to the basics. Soap+Warm Water. No fancy amazon clay mask over here. It's not any soap though. I share with you one of my holy grail products that I can not fathom how I've lived without all these years. Clinique Acne Solutions Cleansing Bar. I have tried every product under the moon and this is the only product I will stand by and tell the whole world it works! It really does! I wash my face once in the morning and once at night and every morning I wake up I can truly say I have visibly clearer skin.

Now Clinique does have a three step system acne solution which comes with the soap( your choice of a pump or bar), moisturizer, and clarifying liquid to exfoliate your skin. I did try this out and note this was just my personal experience, but I had an allergic reaction to the moisturizer and stopped using it. They both worked lovely and do clear up the face, but every time I used the cream I began to itch until I felt ripping my eyeballs out of their sockets (Too graphic?), but this isn't to say you will have the same experience! Not only does Clinique have different products to treat acne, but they offer a wide array of products for all different skin types. There line is so lovely I really would recommend it to anyone. If you've got skin, they definitely have something for you.

Now this cute little purple bottle you see above you is a sample I received from Clinique when I purchased my soap and I swear to you it is magic in a bottle. This is Clinique's "Take The Day Off" makeup remover and waterproof mascara is no match for this. I personally used to struggle with removing my makeup off my eyebrows. I love drawing a dramatic brow, but it used to be such a pain to wash the waterproof makeup every night. No matter what I did all I was able to do was wake up every morning to my eyebrows imprinted on my pillowcase. Very sexy. But, now I simply dip a Q-tip in this solution and with one swipe my makeup comes off like a breeze. Next time you're at your local Clinique local counter ask for a free sample. I promise you won't regret it!

TIPS:

-HANDS OFF! Keep your hands away from your face I promise you your skin will thank you later. Throughout our day we come in contact with millions of germs. Door knobs, keyboards, your own phone to just name a few has millions of different living bacteria just waiting to be touched. You do not want to transfer that to your face. Trust me. . .

-Wash your face once in the morning and once at night. No more than that. Your face has natural oils and stripping them away of them can cause your skin to become dry.

-Stick to your skin rouitine. Stick. To. It.

-Drink Water! A whole lot of it too! Water is proven to clear up skin and get rid of the toxins in your body.

-Stay confident. This is a tip that I need to take myself and something that I am truly working on everyday. No matter what condition your skin is no one should ever feel ashamed or feel like they are not worthy enough in this society that over idolizes beauty. Getting break outs are normal and doesn't make you any less beautiful. These are things that come and go and that should never stand in your way of becoming the best person you can possibly be. You got dis' girl/boy~

Oh, Lord this post is a lot longer than I thought it would be. Thank you so much for reading, darlings and I hope I was able to help you even if it was just a little bit~

Sending all of you lots of love&hoping you are having an amazing weekend!
